TAPS

When I can't sleep I just have to get up and get moving somehow, driving, in the shop, reading, whatever. Peace love.

TAPS

It happens to me, and when it does I grab a book and read until it falls out of my hand and I fall asleep...But I have to take care that the book can't fall out of my bed, since it might fall on my doggie and wake him - he sleeps next to my bed...

well written, and the sentiments I agree. In the middle of the night when

the body is at a low ebb, the thoughts that come to mind are perhaps best just given over to God as you crawl back into that warm bed.

You describe the night so well.

Re: adnohr

It was only midnight mood music, nothing to see, and it takes a while to begin.  It sounds like ocean surf at first.

Routine for me, TAPS. I can't stay in bed when I am awake, so get up and do something. Visiting Blogit is a good way to charm those hours! I couldn't open your link.

Something in the night air...?

Whatever is  niggling or haunting or gnawing, it does no good to lie there alone with it in the dark.  I have decided or discovered this, too, and when it comes, a night like that, I don't fight it, I just get up and pick up the laptop, or find a book that isn't taxing or demanding, and read until my mind shifts gears, and is ready for sleep, again. This time, it was a choice between visiting here a while, or that book (A Terry Pratchett 'Discworld' story).
