Re: Annicita, I agree.

I love that fact-checkers have had the candidates of both parties in their sights, and can be relied upon to let us know who is blatantly lying, presenting false and misleading information, or stating as truth things that just ain't so.

"We aren't going to let our campaign be run by a bunch of fact-checkers..."  Sadly, the folks who run campaigns have only one goal: to get their candidate elected.  And Madison Ave has long been light on ethics and truth, in order to sell a product.  To them, a candidate is just another packaged cereal.

Re: and for the rest of the World, they want a USA that doesn't try to tell

Kabu, I think there is huge investment in many places and minds, in the idea that the US is a 'good guy' but is it possible to be both 'good' and powerful in this world? To stay powerful, ethically and morally questionable things are done.  And in the end, we are only as 'good' as our people, and people are not ever all 'good.'  We don't even agree among ourselves, let alone with all the world, on what 'goodness' entails, what we have to do or be, to keep hanging onto that title, and image.

The US is in a kind of parental position at this time of the world, to less-developed, less-advantaged nations.  They are in a kind of adolescent state, where the US is an older adolescent, and as the most powerful in the family of nations, sees itself with an obligation to manage things.  The US also wants to remain the most powerful. Some of what is done is more globally sustaining, and a lot is to keep the power where it is.

Either way, the strongest sibling will interfere, and push an agenda, and try to enforce rules for the global and personal advantages, and the weaker sibs will resent it, resist it, and complain a lot.  But they will also take help when they need it.

But we need the USA to still be the USA when all is said and done, we simply cannot side steep the constitution and expect that to be true.

very true ciel....we should vote and vote for who we feel will do the best job for our country not just who we like or who is a member of our party....if the candidate can't tell the truth during his speech when he wants to be elected ... how much chance do you think we will have after he is elected!

them how to run their country all the time or interfere or have permanent bases on their soil. The World wants to see the USA as the good guys ....(I spent years in Europe and Asia defending the USA.)
