I hate packing for that very reason.  I can't seem to not pack everything and carry it all around everywhere even though I never seem to want to use it.

Naut, the problem is--they might!

But if I go far afield, I would rather get something from there, to bring home--maybe even trading, in effect, by unloading some old thing from home.

I'm the same way - I keep packing to cover 'all eventualities'; the problem is that most of those 'eventualities' never arise, so I'm always schlepping around far too much, as I did again on my recent trip to Europe...

Kabu, I could have traveled overseas with nearly nothing--I always have to

shop, and bring home clothes to remember the trip by... I realized one day that my shirt, coat, shoes and purse and the necklace I wear just about always were all New Zealand stuff... sweater, Australia. And my hat, I made of NZ wool.

LOL...I have travelled so much, I travel very light and I take old undies

and clothing that I can leave behind. I can truthfully say that I have left my panties all over the world....these days my bag is full of presents for Australia when I leave and when i return it has things of mine I a bringing here to home AND shopping....I always shop in my sisters wardrobe!
