I have a sardonic man friend that I wish was laconic, but he thinks sardonic is smart and he has lots of words.   I get real tired of it.

Pat

I wonder if spending one's days with herds of stubborn people might have the same effect on one's linguistic preferences - 'laconic' being imposed by virtue of its 'economy, 'sardonic' being chosen as a means to preserving the self...

I enjoyed the word thoughts!

Nicely conveyed memories. Now I'm going to resist the urge to try and shape a poem with those two..:) (I can get too caught up in rhyme play, ha)

Laconic is okay with me, I sometimes prefer it; sardonic not so much. But as you say, after spending hours on the trail with stubborn cattle....
