I like the mindbending...

Hitchicker's Guide to the Galaxy. It's better than a pan-glactic gargleblaster!

I love James Patterson mysteries especially the Alex Cross ones. But if you like laugh out loud humor, you can't beat Janet Evanovich books.

Personally, I lean toward sci-fi. Have her read "Sentenced To Prism" by Alan Dean Foster. A great, unique adventure and a lot of fun!

Hi-ya Whacky!  What a great picture of Bo!  He looks really happy!  One of my favourite authors is Nicholas Evans. His books are THE HORSE WHISPERER, THE LOOP, THE SMOKE JUMPER, THE DIVIDE AND THE BRAVE.  I have all but the last two, but he's a fantastic writer.

I also quite liked Frank McCourt's works.  I read ANGELA'S ASHES all the way through.  I have its sequel, 'TIS, but haven't read it yet.  Nor have I read his last novel, TEACHER MAN.  His very last book was actually a children's story called ANGELA AND THE BABY JESUS.  I have that one too, and it's a great book!

I could also recommend a few good children's books if she wants to start off with something a bit lighter.  By the way, Garrison Keilor is also a fantastic author and very funny!

I hope this helps your friend.  Give Bo a pet for me!
