We have those in the States and I must admit I went to them in my 20's after the bar closed to get fed! I was nice though, but the locals as you say can be rather crass! sam

Good girl, we sure would not like do do those tasks that were deemed neccessary in those days, but it taught one to appreciate that others now have that role. The still sensitive act accordingly, in other words good on you.

Kabu,

And our trials in life produce "character".......... I could relate to those days, also. Thanks for sharing.

Remembering
Great imagery. One of those "been there done that" and don't want to do it again things.

Hi Kabu

Reminiscences of the long journey one has traversed are aways close to the heart, even if it be bad.

Kabu

When I go on longer trips I always stop at truck stops, especially when I'm driving at night, and chat with the waitresses. And I always have a coffee and apple pie with ice cream...

It's true. Nobody tips like a former waitress.

Those were days of life lessons. I also have such memories and always respect and tip those who work so hard.

I'm sure that there are many amongst us that have been in similar circumstances . . . a somewhat terrible job, doing what one must do, to get by. Everything is a learning experience, and could serve us well down the road. Oh, wait! You're already "down the road?" Well . . . use your wisdom wisely then!

Oh life can be so tough when the money gets slim. I know how tired you must have been to do that and take care of the little ones after. I did some hard time in the work place when I was a young mother, college student and wife trying to put that extra penny there. That brought back some memories. Those women need the tips if anyone ever did. Be blessed both of you.
