I wondered and do wonder if folks forsake themselves for the principle of thing they embrace! Perhaps it's a yes in more cases than one would think! As far as your opening thought on poetry, for me it's about creating the best possible imagery in whatever sucject I have chosen to entertain. I am never satisfied with my poems so they are never written or seem to get written to fulfill myself! Strange thing this art of poetry! It is as varied as the one writing it and yet so many entertain the same themes! sam

With poetry I like lots and lots of variety. I think that it works well when things are explicitly stated and when one has to think more than usual...I've known of a few hoarders in my day.

An interesting flower - I don't think I have ever seen one like it before! And your poem strikes many chords...

Even to this day I think a long time before I throw anything away. As for your little brother, I never had one, but if I did I would paint in his book too. I remember those magic paint books...I just couldn't help but do the whole book and in the morning all the pages would stick together.

Re: CCT

Wiley well we know how you stand, well I suppose one has to consider if one is writing for themselves or for an audience. Congratulations for passing grade 8 at that time I was trying to pass the days away, longing for night, but that is a different story.

Re: CCT

JUsti hi there, yes I guess you're right, perhaps we get rid of them when we feel we no longer need them, they become probably just a handful too much when comparing them with the reality of life, thank you so much for your comment.

Kabu   To be sure it would bring pleasure to the heart of a poor old man, to hear you are after saying such a thing. Do you know anything about having a nappy change.

Re:

Lo BI. Well those were the days, one had to account for one's pennies. It is taking a bit of getting used to by some these days. There are some unusual colours in these Auriculas

I keep saying I will get rid of them, but I have put a lot of the garden and surprisingly they appear to be doing well, only on some of them there is a silver powder which of course on a show flower has to remain pristine .

Re: "neglecting himself for the sake of a principle."

Pat surprisingly we can manage on very little, I agree with you, it is a job to dispose of oddments, different generations approach this differently and appear to throw things away to make the room for something else. I am having second thoughts about these flowers they were ridiculously expensive, if I had known I would have bought seeds because the offspring are much more vigorous, and with really strange colours which I hardly like to show.

Well I like things crystal clear, thinking deeply about poetry or writing that requires intense translation for my mind, just loses me. That's probably why I didn't get past grade 8 until I was 55 years old.  Now tonight the writing was crystal clear, interesting, entertaining, educational, historical and loving. That's my truth, nobody else's.

I love the idea of your going back and looking over the shoulder of your smaller, younger being enjoying coloring the lovely designs for them to bloom into colorful beings. Lovely story told so very well.

I am presently in the process of clearing out all the clutter I have and I see more and more. Such a short time it seems back I thought those were delightful things, useful and relatively pretty now I need to toss them. Is that where you are here?

love the flower it is almost mystical and the child on the floor.

At three, one is very centered still on self(a survival mechanism ) Some people never grow from this stage which is sad. but you at three wanted to spread water throughout that book and see the colors and pictures come to life, so you did. ownership never entered your mind and the baby was probably fascinated with your superior skills.

Hi .. I was raised by my grandmother and learned to use and reuse and improvise. There is a letter from my grandmother to my aunt asking her to please find criso and bring it when she came to visit. Today's flower is beautifully unique!

"neglecting himself for the sake of a principle."

Sounds like what lots of us were trained to do, by wartime shortages, by economic depressions and other events, don't toss that, we might need it some time. "It's a hard habit to break."

Very interesting flower today, trimmed in black lace. I don't remember ever seeing such a fancy petal. :)
