I remember a few remarks vividly from my childhood...I never did get into olives. I do not like their taste.

Re:

Hurray! Sam does not like hot peppers,  I have not thought of the next one Sam, I mowed the grass for an hour this morning and am getting over the shock. I am glad you feel all right, it is a bit exciting, for you.

You have the prettiest flowers! Every time I see one I begin to daydream about having my own place so that I can have perennials! And, the packaging is done to please the eye and the lettering is for the discerning purchaser! You are right, they keep getting smaller while the price keeps increasing! My favorite one, and much to my chagrin, is the one sold by weight not by volume! UGH! The poem was well done, too! I am so excited I got this one read before you posted your next one. It has been a busy time with Jes' job searching and organizing her possessions. I keep telling her that it will take 2-4 months to get her back on an even keel due to the move. There just aren't enough paychecks in a month to do it any faster! LOL! She is patient and I know she will be fine in the end! I forgot, I dislike it immensely when I think I have found a good deal only to have it laced with something unbearably hot! Too funny on the last taster, he may have a closer look the next time! sam

I'm anothe rlover of jalapeno peppers - they are used a fair bit in Mexican cooking and I am a big fan of those flavours...

Re: for me they have to be black OLives from Greece...fleshy with the seed

Kabu I suppose you know they are fattening, I will try a pot of those as I am keeping to my weight schedule, I am always a bit dubious about stuffed olives, but then I am dubious about many things that do not walk on two legs.

Re:

BI you were a bright little spark to be sure, I don't suppose she would have gone for the under the gooseberry bush idea. I would thought it funny as well, yes back to the grindstone, but it's nearly worn down by now,

Re: I learned to love jalapeno and cayanne seasonings several years ago

Pat, I some how cannot remember olives ever being part of our meals, so perhaps one becomes used to the stronger flavours. I suspect that olives are rather fattening. I think I will stick to Brown sauce. At the moment I am picking some really early purple sprouting, before it is ready really, because it has thick stalks, but it is tender and as green as grass when cooked, I like salad cream on that, yummy. Yes take care, I am glad you are being wise with your diet.

Re: CCT

Wiley a quick look down at the comments and goodness me a lot of people like those horrid hot peppery bites. I think these we had a must of been extra strong, but I'm not going to try them again.

So wonderfully interesting are the things that you remember.

Yes, I'm one of those who loves jalapeno peppers, with and in anything at all.  My favorite combos are jalapenos and cheese, and red raspberry & jalapeno jam.  Nonthing better for tea than toasted English muffins spread with cream cheese and jalapeno/red rasberry jam.

for me they have to be black OLives from Greece...fleshy with the seed

still in them. I can eat them, stuff myself actually.

Peacock It's just regular olives with pimento's for me. It seems the older I get that even the spicy food that I do enjoy .. nolonger like me.

Hurtful words have stayed with me and I was very careful to chose the words wisely with my children. One day my daughter seemed to be on my last nerve with her complaining and whining .. She asked " Where did I come from?"  My replay " You were the prize in a box of Cocoa Puffs."  I thought it was funny but she didn't.

Hope your day is good!

I learned to love jalapeno and cayanne seasonings several years ago

as they were a heart-healthy substitute for salt on scrambled eggs. But such spice has an effect on the disgestive process, and as I began my radiation therapy following cancer surgery, the Dr. told me to avoid hot spicy food. The radiation itself can have an effect upon the colon, and the spicy foods accelerate the speed at which it empties. These days I stick to the mild versions of salsa.
