Re:

Adnohr there were little girls and little girls, a couple years ago Arthur was sitting in the pub and there were two young women one had a baby in a pram, unmarried mums you know what I mean. Arthur was looking at the baby, I reckon he had had a couple because he said' looking at that baby makes me feel broody,' and one of the young women replied, 'I'll have one with you if you like.'

Another delightful read, C.C. - you brought some of my own memories floating back...and I'm not going to tell you what was in those little cups we used to pass around! What is a 'broody' rabbit?

Re: Lovely glance back at childhood games and

Pat Thank you, surprisingly as you know sometimes these things become quite vivid it is amazing really to think of all that is stacked away in the mind somewhere.

Re: I remember little boys ran around and yelled a lot...:)

RAy yes a bit tasteless those little cups of beverage. Perhaps girls have more imagination. Yes I would like to yell now, but it would not be dignified.

Re:

Sam it is never easy, what seems to be a pitiful amount these days, was just or harder to accumulate in those times. No the budget determined by the government I was referring to, a bit of moaning going on as it has cut the tax allowance for the oldies, if they have  anything left to tax.

Re: CCT

Wiley yes they are still there it takes a little bit of delving into the past to find them. Of course in those days you just got a house not central heating etc. it has always been a struggle eight children for a start.

Seems as though you are in a nostalgic mood today CC, even your poetry was nostalgic. You are such a good writer that you make being poor sound wonderful and warm with family closely knitted together somewhere in the English countryside. Thanks CC.

Our mother's were alike somewhat and mine used to sing little ditties like that and play them on the piano. She was British also and came to Canada to marry my dad and he took her to live on Anticosti Island where she raised chickens, and 8 children of course. Dad wasn't able to purchase a house until he was about 55 years of age and I was about 15. Great memories we have my friend.

This was a lovely nostalgic look back at life as it was leaner, but very fresh and mostly joyful in small doses. I love what you can do with words.

It's good you have a budget though! I am always reworking mine because so many things change from month to month! The bottom line for me is that I know where my money goes and try to make as few mistakes as possible with the discretionary amount that is left over, which ain't much! LOL! The bills are paid and I am not homeless so life is great!

I remember the first house my biological father built when I was a kid. We lived in a very small house on the property, a step up from a van and I kid you not! But, we moved in on my birthday in May and by August that same year he packed us in a Buick and headed for Idaho! Things can change quickly! I was far too you to understand the move and I never asked why it happened either!

When I had my first house, we built the basement and lived in it for three years. We worked on the house itself while paying for the land on a land contract. Just as the house was nearly completed the man who owned the land contract wanted his money for some reason that evades me. So, all that sacrifice to build a home without a mortgage went for naught as we had to mortgage it in the end to pay off the land! The things that won't happen to a person during the course of their lives. I did make some money on it in the end but not as much as I should have. But, we only get what the market will bear in the end! sam

I remember little boys ran around and yelled a lot...:)

Seemed just as much fun or more than sitting daintily with teacups that were empty and dolls that were overdressed; so I did both...:) Delightful work, CCT; your posts always bring a smile.
