The call of the wild can get rough.  All is not romance in nature; it has it's cruel element too.  Live and let die. Something happened with those howling wolves.   I might be curious, but hesitate if bear traps could be set in the area that you do not know about. I doubt they go well with humans either.

Wow - enthralling post, Kabu. I prefer to believe like you - nature before the inhumanity of a trap. I would be tempted to go check it out too...armed with my shotgun.

The call of the wild.  The nearest I can come to that is an owl hooting in  the woods across the road.  I wonder what he was after.

Excellent, Dear Kabu!

A well written tale of wild truth love and the bear would just wolf 'em down.

Bear  I'd be tempted to check it out but would also be leary when thinking of those bear traps!

It is a wonderment what it could be about! And, it may very well be the poor bear or perhaps the wolves took down a deer! sam

It sounds like an incident best listened to from indoors!

Kabu

Fascinating! We too can hear the wolves howl down here, although they wouldn't be as close. But's it's a sound you'll never forget...

And as Pat suggests, I would check out the woods - the wolves won't harm you...

that would of been scary to me to hear all that going on

I love the way you think and write the story.

Aren't you just itching to take a hike out to the fringes and see for yourself what really happened? Although it would be kind of gory and sickening if there was a major kill. Mama Three Paws... There's a story in that name. :)  Write On!

Perhaps the bear woke up too early and died the Wolves then started chewing it up but left the paws as the claws are job to digest. Are you sure that it was not a fur glove.

Alright Kabu just a thought. Sounds very entertaining at night, I would pile something against the door.

And I thought there was a lot of excitement when a fox shrieks behind my house...It sounds very exciting with those wolves around.
