I agree with your comments about poetry - it is never the expression of disinterest, even if the interest must be partially faked.

Loved the poem too - good stuff

Re:

Jay that's a good Cat if it can catch a big rat. We have too many cats, they sit on the fence looking, but my cat chases them away. You have heard of catfish supposed to be tasty but the name puts me off, yes it definitely was not you by the pool.

Re:

Justi thank you, at least the council knows about the problem now, but I don't think I will be walking past that site for a while or anywhere near it. I remember when I was a boy I once saw an old farmer thrashing his rick of wheat, there was wire netting around the rick to stop the rats escaping two little terriers to deal with them. His wife and two daughters were pitching the sheaves of corn. They all had bag tie tight  around the bottom of their skirts of course women did not wear trousers, it was to stop the rats running up their legs.

Re:

Sam I did see it a motoring magazine a bicycle I think it was by Porsche it cost £3000 it was made of special metal, but funnily did not have wheel guards and the tyres were smooth. I don't think I will be saving up for a Giant. It does seem pretty scary riding a bicycle in town these days. Some kids tear down on the pavement, but they would cop if they were caught. We are getting a few cycle lanes aside some roads, but they are not really adequate. I am glad though that Christopher can forget his problems for a while.

Re: Re: Re: We used to get mice plagues on the farm when I was a girl...disgusting

Kabu I would rather be on a farm where they were still alive than dying all over the ground. Pity they are not like lemmings and run over a cliff.

Last year my cat brought a big Norway rat to our door step as if she were paying for rent. Maybe you guys should get a heard of cats...but keep them out of the pool, they are hard on lilies.

I am for getting a spatter gun, kill them en-mass. I hate snakes worse than rats but both are from the bottomless pit, ugh! The water Lilly another party for another day. LOL I love all your posts.

Ah yes, there could be trouble when the lover return and who would need that mess! LOL! You were kind not to mention the label problem! And, the rats would drive me nuts, I doubt I would be able to sleep at night!

Christopher called me today! He and his girlfriend were out shopping for bicycles and he needed some advice! They had gone to several bicycle shops but the cost for two bicycles was more than their budget could handle! So, although I am against purchasing department store bicycles I did tell him what to look for and he ended up getting scaled down Schwinns but they will fit their needs and I was so happy for them! They are cruisers so it shouldn't hurt too much that they came from the department store because they will not get heavy use! But, I did tell him that when they moved up to mountain bicycles they absolutely had to save and then buy the brand called Giant! I have had mine for more than 5 years and it rides like new! He even sent me a picture of the bikes via text! How exciting to be young and in love and sharing such fun things! I sent him a text and told him I was so happy they found each other and that it all a mom could ask! sam

Ah yes - a sweet poem, very seductive. As for the rats...maybe you should get yourself a python (do they eat rats?) or if not, a boa - I know for a fact that they do eat rats. Bird had one for a few years. I would never go near his house during that period - we would meet elsewhere...far away. Snake & rats to feed the snake in his house...UGH!!

Again, I really like this poem with its allusions that hint at so much more than appears on the surface, and its 'tentativeness' as Pat says quite correctly...

Re: Re: We used to get mice plagues on the farm when I was a girl...disgusting

Finally they get a chaotic viral disease which kills billions of the mice so that the plague is over. It may take several months before it happens though. Then they will take a few years to build up to another plague.

Re: How interesting, this poem, the thought that

Pat I think most things are to arouse mass hysteria in the young, I suppose one could relate it to jungle drums a kind of hypnotic rhythm, if one just imagines our early ancestors chanting until the mind was filled with sound and then off you go to do battle or hunt a  mammoth. Not as one person but as a mass of unfeeling power. Of course one just gets sloshed now probably.

Kabu yes I saw a documentary about Australia there were thousands of mice. I don't know what I have happened to them You like awe, well that is nice.

Re: CC

Wiley, I am not a mechanic, I leave that to people who can handle a spanner. You could hold Kabu's hand and then put your hand in a bucket of water, if you want a genuine experience. Make sure the water is not warm.

Re: You do get on, Dear CCT! Seem so calm and patient no matter

Thank you RAY I know you are on the list as a non-reply but now I have become more organised, I have got more time to spare and it would be churlish not to reply to someone as brave as you. Fortunately I have two little electronic devices which deter rats, but I shall keep my eyes open as they are not my favourite animal and people have got in the habit of throwing bread on their lawns for the birds. I just hope the probable attraction lower down will be a greater initiative for them to exploit.

the situation..:) But the rats, oh my, I would be squealing!
Now the poem - very provocative and deliciously done..

Too bad you couldn't just sell the motorcycle parts or build one for yourself and save on gas. And there you are messing about with another guy's girl. Was the water warm?

It can be a hassle ordering things online...I can just feel that water thanks to the way that you describe it.

How interesting, this poem, the thought that

looking, touching a reflection might be stealing. I love the tentativeness of your love poems, so much more thoughtful and welcome than the short-minded stubby insistence of today's lyrics. "Come on baby, now. Twist and shout." It just doesn't stir the same attention, does it.

A herd of rats? ewwww
