LOL...tell that Patrick and Arthur too that you need your pretty flowers to satisfy all the friends here on Blogit.

Stunning, CCT!

Such a rich blend of colors and just the right size it seems.

Re: CCT

Naut it is a hybrid freesia bred for size, I wanted some kind of flower to keep the old birds happy the L,S,Bs . In case I require resuscitation. Same old jokes I'm afraid.

Re:

Lion I imagine you have a little country garden lots of foliage and perennial flowers and you do not have to worry about cats scratching your seedbed, I wish I could do the same, but having been a grower for a long time, the old bug keeps biting

CCT

I don't recognize that flower as a freesia, I just recognize it as a red flower. But I do like it...

Re:

Sam, yes you will have to get a move on, Archie won the cup last year with my flowers, but he does help out sometimes  so he thinks he is entitled to claim them and keep the cup of course, incidentally I have never seen it.

Re: Lovely flower. Fresia, you say?

Pat your mum had an eye for the possibility of getting something to grow. People were always looking for little sprigs to grow and usually giving one another a root of an admired plant. I expect you would soon pick up a trick or two if you try, I seem to remember that you have a garden.

Re:

Thank you F S there is a lot of rubbish talked these days, but of course it is now commercialised.

Re:

Taps you have good sons, I know some who do not bother to visit, let alone think of flowers. Yes it is a problem with scent. I watch people walking away from the flower seller and sticking their nose into the flowers and carrying on with a blank expression. I have just ordered some bulbs the same flowers but supposed to be scented, we shall see.

Re:

Adnohr I think the problem is that once flowers depended on the scent to attract the bees for pollination. Many of these new varieties do not need  seductive enchantment as they are produced from cell tissue. Well I never bother to exhibit, but Archie having won every bowls cup for miles, has now set his sights on flower power.

Re: i do like Freesias and these are very pretty. The carnation Competition

Kabu thank you dear, these are only a diversion and they expect they will be fighting for the cut flowers up the road, Patrick came down he could not believe they were real, I had to grumble at him because he started pinching them thinking they were plastic.

Re:

Jay always remember to wipe the pollen off your nose afterwards. Thank you.

They are pretty, but I am like you. The first thing I do when I see an open bloom is stick my nose in and take a whiff...Checking for bees first of course. I hate smelling them.

Ah - that's their name! Like TAPS, anytime I have received flowers there have been a couple of these in the bouquet. I find hothouse flowers, except carnations, have hardly any scent at all. And yes, Sam is right - you have a good heart wanting to help the competition...and it's probably NOT a good idea!

Beautiful color!  Every time I receive flowers for special occasions, there is always a variety of freesias mixed in with them.  But, I haven't noticed much of a scent.  I'll watch for that.  Knowing FL son, he will probably be sending a floral arrangement for Easter and Mother's Day.  (I think he feel badly for not traveling to visit more often than he does, but he has his hands full where he is.)

As someone who knows practically nothing about gardening I find it interesting to read about the process.

Lovely flower. Fresia, you say?

I miss the days when flowers had scent. I'd never be a competitive gardner -- seem to have a dark thumb rather than a green one like my mother had. She could pick up a stick, sit in in water and turn it into some gorgeous blooming thing.

I'm with Archie, do not help the competition! lol But, I do admire your good heart though! What a beauty this one is, too! You have reminded me that I need to get in touch with my son because I need compost for my flower beds and he is the one with the truck! sam
