In India, we have a joke that there are more festivals/celebrations than days in the year! Thanks for your visit!

St. Patrick's Day is quite the day. A whole lot of green and drinking.

Entertaining insights in this one, and impressions.  St Pat is one of my favs; I may do a late mention of him.

Re:

TAPS thank you like many people in England I have relations who emigrated to America

and Canada even Australia .Of course communication was at a snail's pace in those days. Until a couple of years ago I kept in touch with a lovely lady in NY.  Wo told me she had 110 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her Mother was my great Aunt and wrote to my Mother, of course all  with pen and paper.

Re:

Sam I know the feeling, I'm sure you're right and probably there will be a lot more saints come into being in the future perhaps we will have a soon-to-be Christmas Day in October and may have missed out on another years gardening day. Never mind it will be here one day.

I think you are right, it seems we are celebrating something nearly every month with some months more than one holiday! I have always thought it had a lot to do with commercialism, too! And, as I have an approaching birthday, I want to run for it feels like time is getting short for me as well! Alas, we must go forward like it or not! sam

You know, I don't really know many Brittish people, but when you say, "...I think you must be more sentimental than we are and obviously more religious...", it seems to me you may be right.  On the other hand, I really love Brittish humor.  Your blog and poetry writing shows a lot of that and keeps me coming back.
