Naut, that sounds like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."
In "Alien" the pods are smaller, and egg-shaped and when they open... get yer face outta the way!

Pat, as it turns out, Nostromo--also used as a title by Joseph Conrad,
translates as 'bosun' or 'ship's officer' and nothing really exciting at all.

Scary tuna. I remember being scared watching Alien, and surprised at almost every plot twist, rare for any thriller or sci fi film. I always thought Nostromo was the name of a mythical monster I just couldn't remember from lit classes.
