Maybe their trials have made them value the most important things.  It sounds like a colorful place to live.  Interesting.

These are the values we all should turn to instead of wanting the government to do it for us.

It is a worthwhile trend insofar as family ties. Some of it seems that folks have resigned themselves to working into their 70's! At least the beach is near at hand! sam

So important it is for us to be thankful for what we have.

Kabu, I think just about every government out there is likewise...

No one knows what they're really doing, just sort of governing by the seat of their pants and hoping for the best....

".... a loving family, good health, enough food, and certain basic freedoms of choice."  All so important and to be desired over fame and fortune and fancy things.

Priorities! Priorities!

I think it would do the entire world some good to do exactly that: take some time to appreciate what you already have, and learn to live within your means. Good health, education and family should never take a backseat to any political posturing, regardless of what country you live in, or what your own ideology might be. Enjoy your beach and beer!

I believe you're right on target -- and not just with your

former countrymen. I believe the ordinary working guy or gal is getting a little more respect. We no longer seem so interested in or envious of the celebrity lifestyles. Maybe "reality" TV has done it for us -- exposed the lives of the idle rich and  shown us that they are anything but happy. I for one like folks like Warren Buffet and Bill Gates who have set up foundations to help folks.

Good post. I know nothing about the politics of Australia but I was put a back when I saw your president cozying up to Obama... Things are strange all over. Love and peace to you both.

Kabuiepie-;)

Wonderful post love but I won't stand for the children being educated, keep 'em dumb then make 'em waiters. You do know that Canada is having a downturn too don't you love? Never mind, we're so wrapped up in one another we only see rainbows. Ahhh, love is grand.I love you.
