That was a creative idea. I hate dogs that come out and bark because you never know which ones will really bite or not. I befriended a couple of dogs not long ago that ran out at me barking and acting like they were going to tear me up!! After the third time of having to be in that area and under that kind of duress, I brought dog food with me the last time and I had them licking out of my hand!!

Even if you aren't actually scared, hopefully the dog owners take some note
of your reaction, and realize their dogs are making a serious problem for someone.

I always jump and look scared when strange dogs run up and jump on the fence with loud barking, even though I assume they can't get at me.

Pat, my daughter used to have a neighbor with 2 dogs that barked
incessantly when she wasn't home, and she simply refused to believe it--probably because she had no clue how to fix it. I get why they bark, but I also know there has to be a solution short of moving to a country spread where it doesn't bother anyone.

I'm on the opposite side of that equation -- my neighbor's dogs
go nuts every time I go out in the shared driveway to get in my car. They come raging at the window (from inside the house) and I cross my fingers they're not going to come right through it. Not when she's home, of course. She's the alpha member of this pack and they follow her lead.
