Comments on Stupid Politicians

Sometimes politicians aren't stupid. They have an agenda
that runs contrary to my interests, and they know how to play the system to get their way. And they all seem to have an ego the size of the moon -- think they can do no wrong. Thank heavens they seldom accomplish their goals.

Raye, I am giving him some benefit of the doubt because of the Big Picture

he seems to me, at any rate, to be aiming for.  Whenever I have doubts as to whether he is doing the job I looked for when he was elected, I consider the other choices we had at the time, and don't for a moment regret my vote.  He told us he intended to be everyone's president, not one party's. He was bound to disappoint some who thought he would be their president, who thought he was going to be nice as he could to the other guys, but it would still be them vs us.

I think his Big Picture is all about all of us, not 'them vs us.'  But he is mired in a deeply established them vs us' culture that is not inclined to see its own dysfunctionality, nor the disaster down the road that it is careening towards.

I suspect his greatest flaw is in trying to make too many people content, in trying to balance too many disparate idealogues and demands of system, opinion, and natural dynamics, at once.

No president has ever been perfect, has ever been more than a human being. Many have been far more deeply flawed, and outright corrupt and even criminal.    But every human being performs better for having cooperation and support instead of nagging, tearing-down, constant belittlement.

I am among the Americans who are just disgusted with both major parties, and the party system as it works.  I am disappointed and dispirited when loud-mouthed, ill-informed, narrow-minded , emotionally-reactive mobs start dominating what sensible, courteous, insightful people otherwise would do.

I appreciate your stopping in and commenting, Raye!

Ciel, I pray you are correct
He awoke my sense of hope back in 2008 and I worked tirelessly for him. However, it appears by the people he has appointed and the seeming indifference he has shown and continues to show toward any potential for change that he is actually just another cog in the system - the one that functions for the elite. I've been reading Ralph Nader lately and he said follow the money - always, any politician - based on that, he predicted Obama would not be interested in working for ordinary, un-wealthy Americans. The Democratic Party is deeply corrupted too. Well, my perspective. Good post.

Really...?

If the rich people would loosen up a little on their money, it just might help preserve the little the rest of us have left.

All Congress will let him have access to is what we have.  He has been trying to get the rich people and corporate entities to contribute a fair share.  Over and over, he has been blocked, mostly by people who have outright stated that they want him to fail... and care about that goal more than about the US thriving.

For now I am pleased that my son who is serving in Afghanistan will get paid and can make his mortgage and truck payments so that he can keep his excellent credit status! It would have broken my heart if he did not get paid because his life is on the line at every moment! sam
