Chickens have empathy?
I admit I've lost a few brain cells in the interim, but the chickens I remember had the tendency to panic at a shadow, to get all fluffed up and peckish at "a little puff of air," and their waste was hard to scrape off the shoes when we went behind the nest loft to gather eggs.

yes I also have to admit this is bizarre loll I thought you were going to say that the chicken soup had the ability to absorb some of our "feeling bad" into itself, therefore diminishing our discomfort loll Good one! loll and I will... get over it I mean, it will just take time. HAHAHAHA. What can I say? You have said it all.
I grew up with chickens that never had a chance to exhibit their empathy on baby chicks as we always collected and ate the eggs. But, they often did squawk and peck as we collected the eggs from under them. Probably their eyes were hot and we just didn't know it.
