Why do they trust you? It could have something to do with the fact that you are not a fluffy lightweight character. People instinctively know the Simon Cowells of the world.

I think it is a life thing, too, not just a writing thing. Especially for anyone who is reflective and introspective ... we question, sort it out, glide along for a minute, then question some more. Keep writing, you'll push past it.

I am not accustomed to rejection, simply because I have never submitted anything (I don't count academic stuff), but I can understand the feeling. However, we all know of successful writers who faced the same problem for years, and then one day it happened...And we all have seen enough of your writing to know that it definitely deserves a wider audience...So don't give up!

I haven't much to add that hasn't been commented before. It feels badly - the rejection...but, remember after you get back up - dust off and simply - keep persisting - if in fact it still tugs on your heart. I've been there --- it does take a bit out of you for a while. (((Az))) --- Elyse

I think this self-doubt is common among writers...
....it rolls in and takes over but hopefully it also rolls out. You are being sought out and that's a lot farther than any of us get. People obviously trust you...perhaps your niche lies in a place that you are just discovering. But you have it and don't let this last down feeling tell you otherwise!

Hoping you don't give up, Azur
There are obviously many who see the strength of your writing ability, why allow those who are blinded and/or indifferent to it take the lead?

I feel myself taking in a breath and letting out a huge sigh, in
sympathy and recognition. I, too, have submitted my stuff to the big boys, gotten nibbles that went nowhere. There's a sisterhood of hopeful writers looking for a little recognition. The industry (publishing) is turning on a dime, the little independents have equal access to the internet. You already do the things "they" advise writers to do to get their name known, to get the PR going -- can a website and independent blog be far behind? Or a blog on a writers site like
Publetariat? As for your question -- "who am I to judge?" I ask who better?

I believe on the books that the idea of submitting them until someone says yes is apropos in this case! I am reminded of Steven King. If you inspire and get novels organized then by all means do it; there is obvious success or folks would not seek you out! Everything happens in its own time so just hang tough and things will happen! I think it is wonderful that you are sought out; glorious! sam

I personally think that you should continue....you are sought out by
magazines and newspapers for paying jobs = well published. You have been short listed in competitions and you are I am sure an excellent editor for you take the work seriously and leave the person with dignity.
It sounds like this next job is a biggie and very exciting and of course that is way too many pages. It may be two novels or it may be just too wordy. I know you well enough to know that you will be wonderful in turning this into a novel.
Goodness me here I am writing a novel to encourage you to keep on keeping on....
