You know --- this sounds like someone was just spouting off and I do hope Wiley John gets to the bottom of it.  I cannot imagine --- never...oh my this is unheard of...well, then again, when medicaid and medicare came about, it was surprising to me how many physicians would not take these type patients on board.  I don't know --- I'm thinking just put me out to pasture or lead me there one when the time comes Kabuski ---  ~ xoxoxo Connie Elyse

The medical profession has it's lemons too like all others .  Glad you found a better optometrist.  What is of more value than experience and wisdom?  It depends on how you look at life.  Some young people are undependable and can't or don't pay their bills too.

Sounds like an optometrist not seeing clearly

maybe that is why we get such shitty service and the insurances dont want to pay for much, especially the dentist

I have never heard of such a thing.  I hope it is not a trend.

What a ridiculous
stance from the optometrist! I hope action is taken on ageist grounds if nothing else. Good to hear Wiley is on the mend and hope you get glasses sorted out with a decent person

Kabu

1. I am so glad to see that your Wiley is feeling better. We are praying for him.

2. That lily livered gall coated gizzard that agreed to not see anyone over 60 should be delivered of his licenses. I hope Wiley is able to get his business closed. That is so terrible. What is helping people about if not for the needy. That punched me when I read it I wanted to box that young arrogant upstart.

3. Both of you stay well. I love you both and will get back really soon.

What a funny thing to say - Glad Wiley John is getting it sorted out. Take care and yes, I believed the Golden aged are to be treasured and for all their experiences, learned from and cherished for their contribution to the human race!!

Makes me wonder if it's actually the company's policy
or if some young thing with an overdeveloped sense of entitlement and the receptionist's job has just decided she can't be bothered with politeness or service. Which query, I admit, is just as discriminatory and unfair as the "no clients over 60" one. Sir Wiley has a new joust in his appointment book: that person doesn't know it, but they've just messed with the wrong one.

WEll Kabu My optician is well over the hill and she takes anyone so would all the others and be glad too have the business. I think the world is going mad sometimes. Don't worry about it. Though it makes one feel like a second class citizen. Well you are not so don't let Wiley upset himself.

Oh, dear Poppy and Grandmummy...

It makes me angry and hurts me more than I can tell you both to read this.  I had a situation a few years ago with an eye doctor I'd had for years.  I'd missed three scheduled appointments with him, twice due to illness and once because I simply could not get transportaion.  Now, I understood the policy that if you cancelled or missed so many appointments he may drop you as a patient, but they all understood my physical situation.  Or so I thought.

I rescheduled the appointment and all went well.  Until the following year when I rang to schedule another.  The receptionist very rudely explained to me that Dr. G would no longer take me on as a patient because of the missed appointment the previous year.  She hung up and when I rang back to ask to speak with him directly, she refused to call him to the phone and hung up again.

I will never speak to this man ever again.  Nor would I recommend him to anyone I know personally.  Margaret sees him now, but I refuse even to go to her appointments with her.

I'm glad Poppy found another doctor, but this age descrimination thing is beyond rediculous.  I'm glad Poppy has decided to report these people and I hope they get what's coming to them.

Let the hurt pass, Grandmummy.  I love you both forever...

Kabu, I agree with you..I would look into age discrimination on this...
Even if he as a written policy in this regard, it just doesn't see right...Might not get anywhere with it, but I just don't see any kind of doctor saying no to seniors, just because we might mean more work...this guy sounds like a lazy oaf that Wiley would be better off without anyways...
