I will be glad when this year is over, a dark year full of dark surprises.  I am happy to hear you had a great millenium experience with a loved one.

Not another one Kabu I shall give up soon and be ninety-nine forever. Well perhaps feel like it, I was telling Wiley I missed his blogs which do you think are nicest sylphs or nymphs. Which would you rather be? Also I am sorry that you feel sad thinking about your Sis, it hit's one sometimes.

I have never really liked the New Year celebrations
though do have some fun memories from the past. For me it is the contrived requirement to 'be happy' and 'go wild' which really grates on my innate quietness, even aloofness. I suspect we'll be playing Scrabble as words can't describe how much I wish these party organisers would just leave me alone

I don't remember that new year, but this one will be spent with family

Kabu.....
It was the same here....we did a sports trip to New Orleans for Y2K....the businesses in New Orleans thought they could gouge everyone.....hotel rooms were at Mardi Gras pricing and higher.   It was a total bust......Bourbon Street looked like it was the Ash Wednesday after fat Tuesday........at least we had our ballgame to go to.....

And this year, in Times Square, Snooky will be in the ball
when it drops.  Let's just cross our fingers and hope there's no big disaster, no evil attack on anyone to celebrate the millennium plus ten.

Remember all the Y2K predictions of disasters that would occur at midnight that year?  Peter spent that New Year's Eve with me.  He was 11 and could hardly wait to see all the disasters occur.  LOL.  He was excited and on edge all evening and at Midnight went out on the balcony to hear all the fireworks and guns shooting and horns blowing.  About 12:30 a.m., he very disappointedly said, "I guess they were all wrong."  LOL

So much as changed since then

We would have never imagined at that time that 911 would or that is was even possible it could occur.  We didn't have to arrive at the airport early or get a special pass to meet your loved one at the gate.

Computers were not something that everyone had yet, nobody had really ever heard of DSL, high speed, etc... it was good old dial up and big clunky monitors.

But in 10 years, we have grown, loved, fought, hated, loved again and hopefully become wiser and more appreciative of the life we are blessed with.

As for me, I'll raise my glass and say "Here is to the next ten years of meeting here on Blogit and catching up with people we love."

a new year?  LOL --- I tell you Kabuski - I cannot keep up with the new changes constantly so I try not to remember the new year.  True story:  once I was rushing home from work and rushed right by the policeman.  He pulled me over soon enough.  I was so frenetic and started to stutter while I got together my license and such and soon, as he was asking me, "did you know you're registration is out of date?  did you know that your license plate sticker is out of date?  did you know that your drivers license is expired?" and  I started to blubber.  I said through 'waaahhhs"   "I didn't know and I don't even know what year this is..."  You know Kabuski that is the only ticket I was ever released from.  Imagine that.  So, it stuck with me I guess.  No, I don't care about the change of dates - because to me, every minute is new and brings newness with it.   ~ However, I do know (when I'm reminded by others) to put the correct date and to follow dates on my stickers --- lest they not be so generous this next time... ~ xoxoxo C Elyse

I worked the New Years Eve millenium edition....
and the midnight shift following it....No one else would, so I took them...Liz was given permission to come into the group home for the midnight shift....we did have a contingency plan in place if any of the dire predicted disasters occurred, but of course, nothing did....

The millenium celebrations were really something else Kabu and I am glad you had someone close to you to celebrate it then.
