I forgot Danny Kaye, but I think of the rest from seeing them on television and liking their songs and easygoing, happy-go-lucky  manners.  I am glad you have found the happiness you were searching for.  Why let monsters in a happy home indeed!! Good policy.

I remember Danny Kaye
from childhood television but he's more of a name in my head now rather than an image or real memory. We thought about braving the shops in Cambridge but weren't brave enough...

Have a tickety-boo 2011, Kabu. And yes, I remember Danny Kaye, especially as Hans Christian Anderson and that lovely clip about the ugly duckling. Oh, and pennies in the fountain (was it five? Can't remember!)

I used to love Danny Kay. "Hans Christian Andersen" was
a favorite movie for many years. I loved his ability to pick up accents.

Kabu, I love that Tickety Boo expression! A perfect fit for you and Wiley. Your post had me smiling, then giggling...lesser mortals, indeed!

LOL!
For a moment I thought I remembered Danny Kaye...then I realized I was thinking of Danny Thomas (I think that was his name; Marlo's dad).

the Court Jester.....oh yes that was wonderful and yes, C.C Bilko
Phil Silvers was a must for me, but I loved English comedy.....Keeping up appearances and the good life, and As time goes by....Yes Minister, the Vicar of Dibley,To the Manor born, Oh I can't think of them....I used to lie in bed and listen to The Goon Show on radio as a teen. Peter Sellers and on and on...why am I having this nostalgia?

Kabu did you ever watch Hancock's half hour We used to think that was great and BIlko.

I always remember a Laurel and Hardy film we used to sit right in the front row and wished we didn't when it was scary. I saw Dorian Grey once and didn't sleep properly for nights. But the scene I remembered was Laurel sitting in a trench the war had been over for x number of years and he was opening a tin of corn beef and he tossed it on to a mountain of empty tins. We watched every film that came our way at three pence a throw.

Danny Kaye - you know my all time fave of his was, "The Court Jester" but then again, many too many of him in his interaction and such - yes, described perfectly by you, keenly innocent and wholesome.  Awww thanks for the memories.  and blustery windy and cold, now that's winter for ya eh?  I mean if its going to be winter, why not windy and cold... I'm layered today because it was 20's this morning and now into the high 40's.  Jeez a heat wave compared to whats going on in our nation.  Hug me Mr. Graysome and y'all be careful traveling on those highways and byways because there's still a bit of reveling about for the holidaze.  xooxxoo Connie Elyse

Kabu, I remember Danny Kaye well...

You might find some of his movies on dvd in Blockbuster, in the "Classics" section (or your neighbourhood video store) or you might find them in the library where they are absolutely free for a week...can't beat that....(or saw it in half or chop it up, either...:)
