That happened to a friend of mine just recently. Their lone-time beloved next-door neighbors got old enough and needy enough for assisted living. So out of the blue their children moved them out and sold their well-kept house and yard to.... a very large, loud family of hard partiers that light up the night with loud music and voices. Craig and wife are fit to be tied. Not too long ago the finished paying off their house and thought they were set for life.

The first thing I saw of my new next-door neighbours a couple of years ago was the man's '30s something hot-rod, with straight pipes and sound to match, and I thought uh-oh, here goes the neighbourhood!
Yet, they turned out to be the nicest people imaginable! The hot-rod gets driven only to shows, and even the wife's Japanese Harley look-alike gets only a few outings each summer...
