Interesting! It demonstrates again how much people can vary in their reaction to the seasons and the changes they bring. Even as a child I thought the time after Christmas was the appropriate beginning of the year, with the lengthening of days and the promise of spring, even if it always seemed far off in those days...

What a fine post! I think September is a time of change, too! I am happy not to be tied to a school calendar as well! I did it as a kid, and then my career! Way pleased it is over! sam

well in Australia the end of Summer is March -April when the days are
cooler, the kids are back at school,it's a new beginning .......

I agree that September always seemed the beginning of a year.
It was also the only time my sisters and I got brand new clothes, although we didn't get very many! I still think of September as a time for new clothes!!
