Re: What a wonderful memory.

Oh, yours was so much more thrilling!  We made our rounds before any pomp was going on!  lol!

What a wonderful memory.

I went horse back riding with my dad in the desert here in Tucson, when about 4 or 5 and the rental horse, upon that last turn, to go back to the stables from the farthest point out, put the pedal to his metal and raced homeward.

My hat fell off and I tried to just hang on as he galloped away over the desert, into dry river beds and out again, etc.....Dad freaked, riding like Hopalong behind me, trying to catch up, stop the darned horse. He couldn't and we stopped at the stables when my horse stopped on a dime at the drinking trough. I only cried about my hat and stopped when some cowboy retrieved it for me.

I remember it all, but it haunted him for decades.......I just remember a really wild cowgirl ride, like in the movies.

Your memory is a much more glorious one, circling in the ring in pomp and circumstance!

What a wonderful memory.  The best I can do is remembering when a circus came to my Grandma & Grandpa's little town and how I got to watch them raise a huge tent on a vacant lot at the edge of town and unload the animals and all that stuff.  Of course the best part was going to the circus that night.
