dsm_tchr , I liked your question, so pertinent ... 'sink to destruction'

As I mentioned in this write that there is nothing local or temporal in the teachings of the Gita, we find although it is Krishna speaking to make Arjuna, his protegee, understand the principle of a higher cosmic law, let us for a while remove Krishna from the picture and instead replace him with the Supreme Power that sustains all that is in manifestation, all the worlds. Since it holds together the stars, planets, the sun, moon and all those that we yet do not know but are there, we are filled with awe and wonder at this Law of Sustenance and Governance, holding together everything in place. It is then this Law speaking that if I were to go working unawares even for a fraction of a second, the entire worlds and the cosmos will come to a  topsy-turvy state , and since there is such Truth in these words, in that sense the inevitable decline will be an eventuality.

Heaven, gods and demigods, I am in full agreement with you, is to teach the society the morals in a language and concept that they will best understand. Heaven is a state of mind when one is is utter peace, he is in heaven as a god. Yes, demigods ... the highest demigod in the contemporary world is the President of America, the most powerful individual in the world. He can, at least, so one thinks, grant any material benefit if he were to be so pleased. So all these terms are more in the nature of psychological significances. Thank you so much for the thought-provoking question. This is very welcome, anytime, helps at one's better understanding. Excuse me however , for being so long-winded.

abenerjee, Now when you use the phrase, 'sink to destruction' do you mean inevitable decline?  eventual?  Also, I like the idea of performing sacrifice with detachment.  I don't need a vision of gods and demigods, however, I think it is enough by itself to work with detachment.  Yet, for the average person, I can see the need to imagine a superior or elevated world;  or for children.

Thanks a lot Shobs for your praise, this interpretation came to me as an afterthought as to why those who know are advised not to teach those who do not, the secret of work in detachment. The deeper meaning is let everything take its own time to mature. You cannot tell a sour fruit how to become sweet, before it is time, timed by Nature.

I agree that politicians only seem to be in service of the public but in actuality they are in their own service, and in my country I see these B's very prayerful in the temples, they donate money and to appease Lord Shiva, pour water and milk on the shivalinga. Such are the hypocrites as described in 3:6. Thank you for your regular readership.

It is so true how we set in motion the thoughts of the children! I have always attempted to help my fellow man and as a result it is the motto that my children carry to this day! I thought this was an outstanding essay, every thing we do must be selfless to praise our Creator! I took the sacrifice to mean putting others/our works first and thus would be valid; I know those who do their work for the public to see, but to me this is misguided and the Lord knows what is in their hearts! sam
