Just a Thought

You refer to several issues.  The answer I can think of at the moment is: different administrations are to blame for not enforcing tough laws already on the books.  It's called political posturing for votes. . .  Perhaps making a statement in the voting booth, and rattling the chains in the White House and Congress on the Hill like so many are doing currently, will make enough of a difference to scare Washington into taking "serious" action.

I'm all for the legalized process to citizenship.  In other countries we must follow the rules and laws or we are in deep trouble. . .so it should be no different here.
