Kabu
I didn't see the movie (nor do I plan to), but I'm not sure we can blame an actor for his lines...Mel's anti-Semitic outburst is something entirely different, though, and that's inexcusable, as far as I am concerned...

Mel did certainly eliminate a lot of fans with that outburst.

I did not see the movie, therefore, I cannot comment specifically on the lines or how they were delivered.

Kabuiepie-;)
Good post love but comments from an out of control addict are simply that. Ravings of a lunatic. Aren't you happy I pointed out he is not an Australian love?

What a pity actors find it so difficult to be nice people - or the famous one, anyway. And I agree - putting such hurtful and bigoted lines in a film just isn't on.

I have to agree, Grandmummy.  My biggest problem with him is that he refuses to except the exsistance of the Holocaust.  I think all the years of trying to stay sober without going to meetings has finally caught up with him.  In short, I can feel nothing any longer for Mr. Gibson other than deep sadness and pity.

You know I always love him, too, until he made such an ass out of himself.

Gibson's been on my ugly jerk list for well over ten years.
He's anti-semetic, homophobic, abusive, and a full-blown narcissist who thinks he has the right to say and do whatever the hell he wants. I won't contribute a dime to anything he's involved with, don't watch his movies. I think he'd say any lines they write for him and take pleasure if they insult others.

Mel does play such a good a$$
That I have often wondered if it was type casting....  but to be honest, I can't help but doubt the sanity of people who crave that level of fame.

I usually love Mel Gibson's movies, but the edge of darkness, I gotta say, is pretty outdated. I mean, if i watched that movie in the 1990's i would've said it's "amazing!" and "awesome!" But now . . . i dunno we've seen such story lines over and over again-nothing new.

kabu, PTSD, is a real syndrome and medically accepted by the AMA.  However, many ex-joe types that I know, downplay the fact as "whining".  Real Post-trauma should be treated, no doubt.

New areas of study imply that immigrants -- especially those who crossed front lines to escape -- like in Bosnia -- or who saw their loved ones killed, or their homes destroyed, all experience PSTD in other forms.  It makes sense.  if you have unresolved feelings trapped in your unconscious mind, then you're going to have issues.

Lustorlove asked what is PTSD.

Post-traumatic stress disorder is a type of anxiety disorder. It can occur after you've seen or experienced a traumatic event that involved the threat of injury or death.

Symptoms of PTSD fall into three main categories:

1. Repeated "reliving" of the event, which disturbs day-to-day activity

  • Flashback episodes, where the event seems to be happening again and again
  • Recurrent distressing memories of the event
  • Repeated dreams of the event
  • Physical reactions to situations that remind you of the traumatic event --google health

Kabu
Talented he is; he does have problems that would appear to be enough to prevent his making such statements even in dialogue of a script. He is a sick man. This is a sick world now.

Fan
Take it easy Kabu, you know the truth, a wind up sadly is usually a money maker however nasty it appears to some folk.

Like you said Kabu ... he is an A@$#%$le and I am not surprised at all at what you said he uttered in that movie.  Since that episode that you mentioned with his drunken tantrum I do not watch his movies so I will not be going to see that one... Be well  :-)  xoxoxoxo

I admire Mel Gibson too, but it is as you say, sometimes they disappoint. Wiley John is such a fighter, he will be just fine with you by his side Kabu.

Mel G is still one of the actors I admire...
perhaps he's going thru some kind of a personal trauma that's causing him to turn his anger elsewhere..I pray for his sanity! - Ash

how wrong or how right it is. And its not his opinion its a character,  many people believe that stuff, but than again many people believe so many false crap, like the muslim's think they will go to heaven if they kill enough infedels etc etc. getting upset over it, not worth your time and energy
