One of my friends lived in Australia for a year as an exchange student - she came back with glowing tales and love for the people in that country. If you are an example of the Aussie citizens, Kabu, then Hats Off to 'down under'!

Of course having written this post I have to end by saying that Blogit is a
culture unique to us here and the best spot I know of to make an international multicultural family of us.

I have a close friend from Australia. I love her accent and I would yours too! I hope you check my blog again. It's not all black anymore! Sorry about that, I was trying to change the looks of it and I guess i changed it a little too much. I love hearing about Australia. Thanks for sharing.

Our nations have a lot of similarities Kabu with so many unresolved issues and yet the good outshines. Excellent write.

It seems to me the Aussie personality is a lot more like the U.S.
pioneer era cowboy persona than today's yuppie culture. When I think of Australia, I think of wide open spaces, folks doing for themselves instead of waiting for someone "official" to decide what needs to be done. There's an aboriginal component, a certain wilderness or naturalistic bent, a respect for nature and a stoicism that seems to have been cloaked by popular media and technology. In any case, I think difference is cool, and diversity makes us all healthier and richer in spirit for the most part.

But it's not
Tomato sauce dead right Sheila. You can spin a good yarn Kabu and I think you are really intelligent, world wise. I can pick a duff chicken out of a thousand, but I think that is called instinct and I heard them singing Sheila in an advert on the television. What about Matilda?

Must be great to really experience two cultures. I have only ever lived in the UK, so get a very skewed idea of other places, from  films, the media and holidays - but blogit puts it all right and your past is terrific.

Good on ya mate, a terrific post and we Canucks and Aussies have a lot in common, enough even to get married and other things. LOL

Quite perceptive..I agree..one similarity that I've noticed & like...
is that most Americans and Australians are generally friendly, warm-hearted people :)! - Ash

You threw me off when you said cricket, I thought you were talking to our very own cricket.  That information was really interesting coming from the source and not what we see or hear
