Kabuiepie-;)
That was such an uplifting post and so well organized, it gave me such a lift. Imagine the pair of us living through all that you spoke of, bad news all the time, having lived all the pain of our past lives, and now surving happily on each other's love, smiles, laughter. I just love you, let's keep on getting married again like tomorrow.

I know what you mean. We are so inundated with bad news that it can lead us to believe at times that there is nothing good out there. How refreshing it can be when one takes a step back though and analyzes the world a bit.

My sentiments exactly!
We are without a television in this house at the moment: blissfully so.  If I have my way, so it will remain.

Great idea!
I gave my TV away a couple of years ago and without the daily diet of depression and fear my life has been so much lighter and brighter

I think the most depressing thing on TV are those commercials
about depression. Just that whiney tone of voice, the resignation, the lowered shoulders. I see that actress's face and before she gets ten words out, I've hit the mute button, or got up to find a bite of something. Can I sue them for my weight gain? And there's really very little news -- it's all gossip and why did Tiger do it, and did you hear about... endless rehashed gossip. I catch a much better mood out raking the yard and taking in some fresh air.

Excellent piece, Kabu.  Much wisdom.  I feel the same, but you wrapped it up in a neat tight package I couldn't have managed to tie up.  I'm beginning to understand the serenity of many old folks (which I am becoming, maybe have become!) and their attitude of acceptance of life as it really is.  Though to us do-gooders this is a bitter pill in the craw, this world is a mystery, we ourselves a mystery . . . and I saw that remark (minus my 'bitter pill' comment) on a library rental video about the surrealist artist Magritte.  He painted daily for 40 years and stated there was never anything behind his paintings but the wall.

even as far back as when my mom was a kid they talked doom and gloom, but it took a lot longer for people to hear it, the media are sitting around waiting for something bad to report and this they do often, that is why I dont read news papers and  watch very little news

I agree we suffer from an overdose of news churned out hour after hour on various channels.Being informed is one thing but drilling details 24 hours is deadly. So no news is good news!

Kabu
I am delighted for you that you can look at it this way. It is my opinion that paying attention and warding off some of these very bad things can make a difference. They become bad when the world looks away from reality and allows bad to rule. Also I believe things progressively increase toward the bad end of the measure. I am glad you can find the joy in all those things. You are an inspiration to me.
