This makes impelling reading. I love this line:

Secrecy will sign it.

The removal act is such an act of atrocity! It is right up there with slavery! None of it has ever made sense to me! Pushing and shoving for no good reason! The Cherokee saved Jackson's life only to lose theirs, amazing the injustice to those that help make this country great! I get real up tight with the treatment of the Cherokee because my grandmother (great x 5) walked that trail as a child! Then in the slavery the poets were censored and that to me is unconscionable, we have lost the potential of great work to the silliness of outlandish master! the whole thing is just horrid to me! Very poignant, thought provoking poem, too!!!!  sam

The ramifications are still being felt to this day, I believe. Such a terrible tale from this nation's past.

The untold story
My mothers mother was full blooded Cherokee Indian and her name was Darky.. She told our family of the trials she went through being an Indian..And how we were not to tell of even being an Indian..Today it is better and I'm glad the Indian Casinos have a way of getting back at us all  for what we took from them..Their silent vengeance on the white man.. and their money..The trading post of a new form of bardering. Of course, black people were deprived their heritage early in this country against their will. During Reconstruction many injustices of extreme prejudice occurred. Until 1964-1965 the Black Codes and Jim Crow Laws really gave blacks a bad deal. The Native Americans were robbed by the new Americans. Believe it or not the 60s pop rock group Paul Revere and the Raiders hit it on Cherokee Nation love. KBC-A, Bill’s RJLst
