I always liked the Ninja Turtles.
I think it is an excellent nickname, considering how strong and determined you had to be as you came back from physical helplessness. I can relate to being scared of taking the cast off totally.
My youngest was in a body cast because of a broken femur for at least two months after getting out of traction. His brothers dubbed him the Ninja Turtle, too. He wore it home even after the attending physician sawed it off. He couldn't let go of it emotionally until we lifted it off and set him in the bathtub, where he turned back into a four-year-old boy again.
