Poor you, I can just imagine how you must feel...having to go along with a bad guide and a group that you don't really belong to.. It reminds me of our trip on the Donau, more specifically on the guided tour of München: I ended out HATING München while everyone else I know finds it fantastic. So, you see the kind of tour
we had! So, don't worry; you'll be out of there soon enough, meine Liebe! By the way, I got an e-mail from my German Lehrerin and I had to answer her in Deutsch: es war so schwer! I'm loosing it
I mean, mein Deutsch, nicht mein Kopf!LOL

Your decision to go independently around places is for the best.
It is what I do, not much of a follower and the 'usual' is not what I want anyway. I want the unusual or the off beat or less spectacular, but more interesting. Just like you.
You will pry the little gems out of this and remember and treasure those and forget the rest. You'll see.

Actually love Wiley and I made up our own walking tours each day on
our cruise and had wonderful days. Much less expensive too, I found the organised tours a shocking expense, felt broke just looking at them.Free Spirits hate to beorganised which is why your travel books are such gems. You help people to help themselves and see and do more. I am wondering if the cabin mate isn't quite what you thought either.

I am sorry you are finding out the trip is ... well... not for you, but hey, look at the bright side... you are having kind of fun and you are at sea , which you love...and visiting the most beautiful islands... The Historical Society has always been famous for being a little stiff loll Do go on your own but be careful ... Soon you will be home laughing about all of these :-) xoxoxo

Hey, Vogue. I could have told you that cruising like this (a floating apartment house) wouldn't suit you very well, but at least you can say you have been there, done it and can cross it off of your list. There are other cruise orgs that specialize in small, studious groups - more lecture/naturalist/history driven than these big shove 'em on, shove 'em off - feed them nonstop in between type trips. I sympathize with you, but you'll soon be waiving tata to the hairy-chested men!! Mal
