A time warp in Tortola
Tortola in the BVI has to be one of the most peaceful and laid back islands I have visitied on that cruise. Once you get away from the hustle and bustle of the docks and the herds of accumulated tourists who have been shepherded off their floating holiday hotel by shouting and umbrella touting tour...

Who loves butterflies?
We all do, don't we? So. I was delighted to hear that one of the scheduled museum tours was to visit a butterfly farm in St. Thomas. I duly went along and enjoyed the experience. The "farm" is tiny and the butterflies bread there are all imported and illegal on the island outside theri designated...

Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua
For once I joined the scheduled tour, mostly as a means of transport for going to where I wanted to. As I am interested in history as well as all things nautical, I couldn't miss Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua where the sailships of the time docked for overhaul and repair. The tour, being a tour, of...

A posing fish and more in Nassau
I'm jumping a bit, because Nassau was the last stop of the trip. As usual, I walked off on my own and took the ferry across to Paradise Island and the Atlantic resort. I had been before, so I knew what I wanted to re-visit and one of the highlights is the huge aquarium and the fish you can watch. I...

Night in San Juan
Puerto Rico was the first stop of the cruise. To my dismay we arrived at 6pm, when the sun started to set and only had 3 hours! I had looked much forward to the walking tour around old San Juan as scheduled by the museum. Walk we did, in the pitch balck dark. But, making the best of circumstances, I...

I can't wait...
Unpacked, shopping done, laundry done and "beautification" reserved for later, I couldn't wait to get started on the pictures. It's also therapy to overcome the bad part of the trip, because as I look at, select anbd edit the pictures, the lovely things I have seen come flooding back and with it the...

Home sweet home!
I think I have never appreciated my little castle in the sky as mauch as I did a few hours ago when I finally was off the cruise hip from hell nad back in Miami. of course, the final straw was that I didn't know how to get back from Fort Lauderdale to Miami. I had come with my desaster of a room...

Following your advice
First I just need to tell you how much it means that you are in spirit with me on this trip from hell. We are about to dock in Nassau and as I know my way around there very well, I'll just have myself a good old time. As far as writing is concerned, I'll put all the experiences, exactly as they have...

This is my life line
I didn't think it could get any worse, but it did. I told you my cabin mate was quite nice....how wrong can a person be. Two days and nights were ok, but on the 3rd morning she exploded. Told me she needs her sleep and can't have me get up early in the morning (when the sun comes up and the ship is...

I came close to walking off...
I have moaned enough about the ship as such, but the organisation by the museum isn't any better either. Imagine that: arriving at San Juan de Puerto Rico at 5pm just when it gets dark, then going on a walking tour in the pitch black dark and leaving at midnight. Today St. Thomas, again terribly bad...
