This reminds me of normal contracts where one person buys a business
from another person and the cost of transferring the knowledge of said business to the buyer is negotiated from the start. I am not sure whether this is the type of transaction that occurred here, though. I think Ray doesn't know which way is up, on first blush....

Some interesting real-life examples hinting at the psychological and sociological complexities involved in giving and receiving advice. I have dealt with those issues on a strictly theoretical level in the past (though certainly not here on Blogit, lol).

For my own practical purposes I have adopted a fairly rigid rule quite some time ago: I will not give advice to anyone about anything unless asked...

I liked your rationale all the way through! I think pride far too often gets in the way at the worst possible time! It would be wonderful if he would accept your father's advice! It has been credited twice with folks indicating as such! I don't blame you for being emphatic about being busy, you could end up in a precarious fix! sam

Some people can't unbend enough to ask for help. Perhaps it'spride - which always goes before a fall!
