Mark Twain
published his own books, so there! That's what I'll be doing -- what I have been doing -- advertising my book(s) which I haven't published yet. By the time I publish them at least a few people will have already heard of them....

Comment on Business vs. Literature
Word are what we write for others to view and the opinions of others are their words to us but in the end writing is left to the interpreter we pass the baton to the other runner in life and his responsibility is to pass it on and not drop it. Finishing what we begin makes us the Victor and not the victim of criticism. Keep writing your wonderful. Lv. Femia

When it comes to the arts there is always going to be doubt, I'm afraid.

Some people like pigeonhole people
I wouldn't worry about what they say.  Rather, just get out there and have a say yourself.  As long as you are a writer of unpublished and unsaid words, even those who would help you will doubt if you have even written a word.  So schedule a reading from your book or notes to gain some local credibility.  With the credibility comes support, references and referrals.

Best wishes on your career as an author,
Carl Peter

For me, if you can dream it, you can do it! It is rather advantageous to be a businessman because the marketing of the book is crucial to its success. Also, Donald Trump is a prolific writer, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that a business man can write and write very well, as you do, I might add! Thank you for your warm comments, you humble me so! sam

First of all, it's fantastic what you have achieved so far. God bless you!

As for the issue about people not believing you, clearly you cannot blame them for their surprise because you said it yourself, you present yourself as a man of business and business and literature are two very different sectors. Just like my doctor friend who is also a fashion designer...
