I don't too much worry about politically correct.  I say let each "couple" decide for themselves what words they want to use to introduce their "partner".

3% of the population of this country are not going to bother me. What is done in their bedroom is their business. I don't wish to know. But you bring up a significant terminology issue!

I know a gay, who has a calls his partner his husband. In Denmark you can have registered partnerships, and their's was followed by a blessing in church.

I guess you could introduce them as "David and his partner Trevor" or "Susan and her partner Amanda".
