Lightning hit the wires when my Dad was on the old phone and deafened him
in that ear forever. and that was his good ear.

Love the poem of course.Memories of lightening stricking the wire for the old telephone resistor in my dad's old house years back and set fire to the house but thankfully, only the roof burned over the kitchen.....

I saw a large stone church get struck by lightning once. It freaked me out. Before long the whole thing was on fire from the inside where the lightening had run down. It was completely gutted and the roof gone. All that was left were the outer stone walls. I had a ring-side seat to the whole thing on our front porch because it was just across the street with a parking lot between us. It gave me a lot of respect for lightening. I love the poem.
