I can relate to the idea of finally getting to stop and see the sights.
Family trips used to be endurance contests, my ex's only goal was to cover the miles, get to the destination like there'd be a severe penalty if we weren't there on time. When I took my post-retirement drive west, I saw the country I was driving through, took little excursions and side trips. It was glorious!

I think it is interesting to check out the wayside historical markers! The history behind them is always so engrossing for me! I think it is cool you will be driving back with grandson! I know it will be a blast! sam
