If I remember the commercials correctly, you may have ole Charlie all wrong. He doesn't just promote the deaths of his own kind, he actually wants to join them. He wants Starkist (or whatever the company is) to capture, kill, and put him in a can for human consumption, but the company rejects him, hence the "Sorry, Charlie!" voiceovers. Ole Charlie has a serious death wish, an intense case of suicidal mania. He desperately needs counciling or maybe a visit to a brain sturgeon for some kind of corrective surgery.
