I bought one last year. If I had it to do again...

..I'd buy a little DVD viewer with the USB port and do it that way, go buy a frame for the scren at the used shp or something.

The device has it's own memory. Like a computer it probably loads image data off the jump drive or Sandisc or whatever into this memory, from which it goes to the display. The JPG or other cmpressed format takes up less room and loads/reloads more rapidly than BMP's.

Naut, It is a great way to look at your digital photos--

they look so nice all lit up!  I held out until I found one with a frame I like, and a big screen.

Krisles, if you take digital pictures,

maybe you can just give her the memory card straight out of the camera, after deleting any shots you don't want to include.

I'm thinking of giving my mom one, too, but I'm not sure she would want to figure out how to make it go.

Ciel
I have seen them, particularly a few days ago when I bought a couple of 'real' frames, but didn't know what to make of them and dismissed them as 'just another useless gadget' like, for example, an electric toothbrush, which I do however have one of, lol. But now I see everybody loves them, and I'm getting interested...

My daughter gave me one last Christmas, already loaded with photos......I keep it at work and just love it.....throughout the day I turn and look at it and am reminded of what's important and why I work as hard as I do.  She's giving me a newly loaded card this year, with updated photos.  I'm surprising her with one of her own -- but she'll have to load it as I am technologically challenged (to say the least!).  I know you'll love having and using one.

Technology is evolving so quickly. I wonder what will be created or invented next?

The memory card should be no problem...
My mother got one, but she is technology challenged.  Mostly the smaller, cheaper ones have poor resolution and hers is hard for me to run.  Good luck!

Re: Copy your photos to JPG format
Thanks for the tip, majroj!  This one has 256mb of memory, smaller than most memory cards nowadays!  I haven't tried saving to memory, just plug in a flash drive.

Re: Yes, Ciel we have one

What size are the pictures?  I find that the pictures have more immediacy, being so brightly illumined.

I'm waiting until Charlie gets home to figure out the rest of its potentials.

OTA, I think they show digital photos at their best.
This one, it seems to me, shows even my not-so-well focused shots with clarity.

Copy your photos to JPG format
They tend to have small memories and wil hangup on files with too many mgb's.

Yes, Ciel we have one
My husband got it as a "Best Man" gift for his partner's wedding.  Naturally, we had our 16 year old figure it out for us.  It sits on our kitchen counter, cycling through our great Oregon pictures. I love looking at them, but don't know much about how to use it besides looking at it!!  Mal

I have seen those in the stores but havent ever used one. I have also seen them used at wedding receptions.. Kind of cool the way a persons life can be put forth in pictures. ~Peace

TAPS,
You should run down to the mall tomorrow first thing, sit on Santa's lap, and tell him you want one for Christmas!  As much as you enjoy photos, you should have one!

I don't know anything about those or how to use them.
