Yeah...
I think I could've written somthing like this, too. I can truly empathize with what you're saying even if our situations were not the same. Forgiveness is more for you than the person you're forgiving. Why give them continued power over your life or even the ability to continue to disappoint you? Beautiful and starkly honest post. I think it’s OK to dislike if you’ve lost “the pattern”. And it’s OK to forgive yet not forget. What an astoundingly, heart-felt post….. it made me want to reach out and hug you.

I have walked your path and
know exactly what you are saying. I have also been able to forgive, forget, and move on to a friendship and support for my ex. We can get together with not only my husband now and him and our children and have a nice holiday dinner and visit but there as good friends in time of need laugh and cry together. Be supportive parents to our children even though they are now grown and we each live our own lives. It does get better and you are stronger for it.
