very enlightening read. Just being is enough, then the ego is kept in check. This philosophy is excellent. Materialism is so embedded in American society and programming is key. Sad but true.

You are so right. Yogis who forget the soul has a body speak in the loftiest way of soul. They are quite correct. The human body is the best robot ever created. Yet, the nerves and nadis allow pain to be communicated to the soul. It hurts though theoretically it ought not to. Thus Christ, under torture, questioned the loyalty of God. It is natural for embodied souls to feel suffering....though their essences are beyond destruction.

Thanks mariaki! We are not ENDOWED with a dark side. The dark siders stake their claim for global rulership by inflicting dark side possessions in you and me. Then they build it so it takes over the governance of the body. Only a direct confrontation and battle will clear the air as to who is boss of the body. It is not an automatic soul victory if you assert I AM. The tricky dark side is in control of most body functions, even including locomotion, sex, hunger, communication etc. The dark side has its counterfeit bliss showing up as the choking love you feel when viewing certain movies or seeing certain GOOD conclusions. Tears of joy are not of the soul....they are dark side. I will try to give the whole story before I leave this site!

Beautiful presentation, Soul, about the all-pervasive soul and its essential nature - Satchidananda. About this very essence in the Bhagavad-Gita, Krishna educates Arjuna.
Nainam chindanti shastrani, nainam dahati pavakah, na chainam kledayantyapo, na shoshayati marutah... "The soul is beyond destruction; cannot be cut to pieces by any weapon, fire cannot burn, nor water can moisten , nor the winds can wither". Enjoyed the write.

Dave, the more I read about this subject the more confusing it gets........
it seems to be that there is no good in ego so why were we endowed with it; just as it seems to be constantly battling soul and thwarting any attempt at change good or not; I for one will never stop saying ''I am'' (whatever) if this is who I want to be (whatever that is) and at some point my ego will be forced to accept it; as long as I am aware of ego's purpose surely it cannot win?

Thanks Cantey! Your intent is honorable. But to apply a material distinction is to limit the freedom of the soul to be anything under the sun. It is a state of POISE that is being sacrificed for some material rating! I am! It is the basic song of the soul that can be anything it chooses to be at any point in time! It is a position of power. What can the dark sides do to hurt you when they have no self-description to aim at? Someone in God's schemata is a matter of self awareness. That is not picked up by the dark siders. They only care about your ability to compete with them for the things they hold as valuable. Hope I answered relevantly!

God created you for a purpose. And you are greatly loved by him. Discard the notion that you are a nobody.

Thanks Cantey! Nobody is a materialist interpretation....one that I don't mind. It is by being nobody in this material world that the soul restores itself and gains its worth. Being something is only a dark side achievement...a purely materialist appraisal. A permanent status like I AM SOUL is more desirable than a temporary status that balks at the fact that the eye of a needle is too small!
