Re: Re:
I agree with the corbin's statement about 'more of the same'.  Republicans brought on this defeat with what is being called 'big government conservatism', which is to say and abandonment of conservative principles.  I read a report yesterday that says people like me make up the majority in America; fiscal conservatives and social liberals.  Sadly, neither major party is truly welcoming of my kind.

Re:
It was allowing a "moderate" to get the nomination that sealed out doom.......how does more of the same make us more competitive????

well written post but i feel mccains defeat had a lot to do with
the fact that Bush was a consummate liar and a f-stick, and the republicans are guilty of association

Re: Re:

So we agree about the war.  (I told my Senators it was a bad idea, but they chose to ignore me and listen the masses.)

I hope your wrong about Democrats going after Fox News and Talk Radio.  I hear Obama has come out against the "Fairness Doctrine".  But if Congress decides to take up the issue, some of us hard-core liberals will fight them.  We actually do believe in free speech.

The last part of your post lists some of the ills that beset the Republican party. We need moderate, realistic adherents. Absent that, we will roam the wilderness for a long. long time.

Re: AM I GOING TO HAVE TO SHOW YOU WHERE THE MEDIA TURNED COWARD

I believe what you say about the media being whores for big advertisement etc. etc.

However with the exception for FoX news/talk radio, the mainstream media across the Western world is to the left.

However I know the lefties don't see it that way. I will also say that real hard-core lefties were all against the war from the begining as that is their style.

What I am talking about is the mainstream A-political Joe that was all gung-ho at first and then war weary later.

And yes I would put a lot of moderate leftists in the mainstream joe categorie but obviously not the Michael Moores, Abbie Hoffmans so to speak.

Congratulations and I too hope Obama brings something unique and successful but the stock-markets not a good sign. I don't think they like the "Spread the wealth" attitude.

Re:

Of course you'll disagree with what I say and it's great that you keep listening to superficial nonsense like mine.

As for "facts" it all depends on whose you listen to. By the time your done sifting it's all up for interpretation as is the rest of this planet.

What I am telling you is that I coldly remember the exact patterns of public behavior during the course of the war. I can even remember discussions from people I've known and how radically different they became. It all went exactly according to the Tv newspapers and I never said anything to them. Just listened and noted.

I always thought the war was dumb and based on lies but achievements are achievements.

But I do hope Obama brings something new and successful to the table. But I don't think the stock markets too happy about "spread the wealth" attitude.

And as for libs being against free speech yes I do believe they will come after anything that doesn't follow their commie doctrine.

THey own everything except FOX news and talk radio and they will work to silence those. They will work to define everything that isn't PC as hate. You'll see.

I disagree with much of what you said about the war, beginning with the assertion that liberals supported it at first.  Some Democrats in Congress supported the authorization for war for political reasons, and they abrogated responsibility by not checking the intelligence until too late to stop the invasion.  But there were more than one death per day, and Bush's claim of "Mission Accomplished" proved that much of the decision making in the Whitehouse was political, not strategic.  And the complete failure of the Administration's prosecution of the war for three years is ample reason to turn against Bush.  Indeed, as you acknowledge, the justification given for the war was based on false statements and unsupported conclusions.  Once that was known, Bush should have been forced to resign.

But Obama won largely because Bush's domestic policies were as bad as his foreign policies.  Bush's first Attorney General stated that questioning the administration was treason, yet you say the Democrats will be more agressive in suppressing opposition, even in public discussion.  Bush ended the rule of law.  Obama will restore it.  Bush expanded the size of government at record pace on borrowed money.  His reforms, such as No Child Left Behind, the Medicare Drug Benefit, and insistence of Abstinence-Only Sex Education have been the failures we stupid liberals predicted.  Obama, who has more respect for science and data, has said he will listen to all voices before making his decisions.  That is certainly a liberal ideal, and one he has precticed during his campaign.  If he continues that practice as expected, it will be a real breath of fresh air in Washington.  He might even listen to provacative, superficial nonsense like yours.  But then he will call it what it is, and make his plans according to facts instead.

AM I GOING TO HAVE TO SHOW YOU WHERE THE MEDIA TURNED COWARD

and didn't raise a voice against Bush's incursion into Iraq?

Odd -- I thought the facts spoke for themselves.  The Media hardly said anything about the war or against it.

There is a reason.  Advertising.  The media has been bought out by advertising -- big name, big money advertisers -- and if any medium reports wrongly, then the advertising is pulled, so the media has to tow the line and not ruffle feathers.

They have not been the critical Fourth Estate they should be.  Far from it.

But you are Reaganizing -- if something doesn't conform to your radical right wing line, then it is evil liberal.

This manner of labeling has shut up many voices of dissent and reason.

Bush tried it -- but it didn't work -- the people saw through the right-wing fog -- finally!!

But only about half the people elected Bush each time, and each time, under a shadow of doubt that the election was fair, first in Florida, then in Ohio.  But the liberal Democrats and media didn't make a peep in '04 when some voices were raised in doubt of the election.

Sorry that your opining here is so wrong.  But I am glad that we are finally moving away from the right-wing.

Liberal indeed.  True liberals call the media and the Democrats cowards in the face of right-wing propaganda.
