Ciel

Great beach photos! I have a few from the East, but not many. Here's one from Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia:

These are ancient rocks that have been smoothed into almost 'organic' shapes over the eons...

Troosha,

I have found something of beauty in almost every portion of this country, but I've also noticed a lot of people miss the beauty in their own familiar neighborhoods.  Iin fact, it wasn't until I had spent a month taking pictures of the wonderful architecture of Italy that I came home and noticed there were some pretty interesting bits right here!

Beautiful photos, Ciel
Not so different from the Coastline I walk along many a day.....     Some people just don't know what they're missing (although I suspect everyone finds beauty in where they live).

Re: Mal, that stretch of beach below the high place in the road is along
Yes, Ciel - we were right there!  We stayed in Port Orford, got a nice picnic lunch at Rollin In Dough in Gold Beach and went down to see the redwoods in Northern CA before heading back up to Grants Pass, OR to start our river trip.  I thought those photos looked familiar!  Mal

TAPS, ravens always cheer me up!
but they smell bad.

Mal, that stretch of beach below the high place in the road is along
Hwy 101 towards the southern end of the Oregon coast .  Maybe you were right there!

OTA, I am so glad you like your prize!

We do have some wide, expanses-of-sand beaches, too, but I like the wilder rockier ones where you can see tidepools and find wonderful pebbled rocks so smooth they are silky!

The tsunami is a very possible, even probable event here on this unobstructed Pacific beach.

One thing I especially enjoy about the ravens is how many voices they have--from cawing and yawping to long, rattling croaking noises!  And when a big one flies by near you, you can hear their wings beating the air...

Nope, food4thought, Chuckanut Drive runs south of Bellingham
and is on the inland waters of Puget Sound.  Kalaloch is on the ocean side of the Olympic Peninsula, nearer to Forks and the Hoh Rain Forest.

Great pictures all.  I had to laugh out loud at your caption about the raven.

Ciel...
Is Kalaloch beach along Chuckanut (sp?) drive towards Vancouver B.C.?  It looks like that area.

Now that is so cool! I love this. The beaches in the southern US do not look anything like these.. we just have sand and.. umm sand. I love the giant boulders there.. They have so much personality. I did not know they had to post Tsunami warning signs up there. Thank you for including the raven. I recently did some study of that very interesting beast. They are very intelligent.. with very large brains. Thank you dear Ceil, Outstanding! ~Peace, OTA
