Corbin, makes me seriously ponder what's down the road for our country
should Obama win office.  He has strong socialist beliefs.  He sees himself as changing the world (Drudge headline), he believes in letting abortion survivors die without treatment (from my perspective, if you survive that heinous assault, you should get preferential treatment at a medical center, and adoption into a loving home. . .), and the list goes on.

Utterly hideous, if true...
I simply don't believe it's true. It sounds too much like every other web tale that comes down the pike.

Corbin
This is utterly outrageous! There isn't much to add to what most have said, though I am certainly glad that all the sane Bloggers agree...

How can anyone defend the fact that a presidential candidate  (or his people which amounts to the same thing)has used our Federal Agents, paid for by our tax dollars, to harass someone that did not agree with his policies.  It is unbelievable to me that this happened and even more incredible that some of the people here in blogit are not horrified by it.  I don't care if you are for or against Obama. If you are A Democrat or a Republican... it really does not matter. This should totally enrage each and every American.  Thank you Corbin for calling it to my attention I for one will do my best to let others know and ask them to in turn do the same.  Lets hope we do not have to have someone that condones behavior like this as our next president.

even if
this were true, which it might be true, as the story passes along the internet 'telephone game' of information. Death threats have to be investigated. People atMcCain/Palin rallies have been calling for Obama's death because they think he's a traitor, terrorist, and a Muslim (not that there's anything wrong with being whatever religion works for a person). He's none of those things though.

America should be a place where I can write about my disapproval of President Bush, and Jessica can refuse to vote for whoever she likes, both of us without fear of being put on lists that cause us problems at airports or get us disappeared. We should not have to worry that dissent will become criminal. Dissent is essential to a functioning democracy.

But so is truth. The truth is that Obama did not need to undermine a woman's right to privacy and choices about her body to protect babies. There are already laws which addressed medical care for infants that survive abortions. The laws in question were malicious and deceitful. I also wish to point out that Obama supports a late term abortion ban, as long as there are protections for the woman's health.

In historical times, the choice between a woman's life and the babies life was made by the husband, who practically owned them both. Now, in modern times, a woman owns herself and makes her own choices about her body.

Besides, I particularly like Obama's opinion on abortion. He wants to reduce the number of them by reducing the need for them, leaving the choice in the hands of the woman, her doctor, her family, and her religious guide, but give her support with whatever she chooses.  In a culture controlled by the rich and the religious that might seem like blasphemy, but to me, that seems like freedom.

I didn't any threats on the part of the agents
just statements.

Ms. Jessica was perceiving them as threats.  And so do you.

This is intolerable, and should be thoroughly investigated.  Even if the campaign caller believes she quoted Jessica accurately, the words hardly constitute a plausible threat to anyone, and the Secret Service should have recognized that.  The caller should at least be reprimanded for poor judgment, and if there is any evidence she deliberately altered the story, she should be prosecuted.  The threats of the Secret Service agents should also be investigated.

A comment on the Patriot Act:  this sort of abuse, just as a possibility, is why I have always opposed it.  It has been used by law enforcement for purposes beyond hunting terrorists.  And now there is the threat on a new administration extending that precedent further.

So fight on, Jessica and Corbin.

reading the stories
I conclude that Jessica overreacted, drew faulty conclusions from the statements of the SEcret Service agents.

And, still, the Secret Service is duty bound to follow up on alleged threats to presidential candidates.

If true, this is very disturbing, Corbin. Very!
If the Secret Service guys are half as qualified as they're supposed to be to serve in that capacity, they'll realize the campaign worker got it wrong. Their report will go into the file marked "unfounded." I realize there are a lot of "ifs" in this response... Thanks for posting this one. :)pat

you hallucinate
the Bush Administration is actively violating the constitution and internaitonal law by certain actions -- but of course you will excuse that.

Seems the campaign worker got Jessica's statement wrong and passed ti along.  The Secret Service as I believe is customary, is obliged to investigate threats on the lives of candidates, no matter the party.  In this case  -- case closed.

And since you are talking about the Missouri connection -- need I remind you that the entire case revolves around slanderous speech, which is clearly against the law and which conservatives on Blogit are close to, if not actually guilty of.  Check my post on BLOGGERS AND THEIR IMPACT.  I RAIL YOU GUYS UP ONE AND DOWN THE OTHER IN THAT.

I don't know about WGN, but if the case is anything like any the others mentioned, then it's spurious at best.
