I really liked the rhyme scheme and the cadence but this was so grand:
As I sit there and listen, I ponder as I may,
Just what is it, that dogs really say?

my dog (half lab / half australian sheperd) would say "feed me and let's play fetch". she would throw her toy until her last breath and eat until she exploded. the keys to the kingdom would be handed over for a weiner.

that's nice. I'm not sure about the cat comment since I'm more of a cat person myself, but it's a nice piece of poetry.
