Re: Such an avoidable mess..
Yes it was...... if the Bush proposal to reform FMac and FMae in 2003 had even been voted on....or the Proposal by McCain, the
Federal Housing Enterprise Regulatory Reform Act had been voted on in 2005 and again in 2006 even allowed out of committee....none of this would have happened....
But since the head of the Banking committee was Sen. Dodd, who was the largest single recipiant of Campaign contributions from Freddie and Fannie, the bill failed to even get considered......and guess who's the number 2 Senate recipiant of campaign funds from Freddie and Fannie????? Why the O-Man himself! No wonder Obama is hesitant regarding this matter......he's up to his ass in alligators here....yet, he's still hoping to drain the swamp anyway.......you guys on the Nirvana Express are in for a bumpy ride on this thing.......

A Change in the Winds
I expect this new bailout, now estimated at $700 billion, will pretty much put all new spending and any tax cuts on hold for at least a term. Makes you wonder why anyone would want the job.
But it doesn't have to be all loaded on the backs of the middle classes. Let's soak the rich!
