In this way I agree with your inference that it takes two at least. However without guns nobody dies!  Take care, BCA!

Xeno:

These shootings are over a thirty to forty year period which is probably the norm for a lot of places.

Isabel:

No gun ban.  I don't mind people hunting or target practice.

Hollybird:

Thank you for the compliment.  I will have to check out your blog.

I guess my main point is that if you live your life right, there's no need to own a gun because trouble usually comes to those who seek it.

England and guns....
In England anyone caught with an unlicensed gun is liable to a mandatory 5 years in prison. But we have really bad street crime in our citys, especially amongst youngsters. I would not like to see guns on our streets they scare me, but so do 'knives and baseball bats and brokem bottles and iron bars' If someone wants to cause damage they will always be able to find a something to do it with, even if its a brick or rock. Maybe the problem here and where you live is the cause rather than the effect. This is really thought provoking stuff I look forward to reading lots more of your work in the future and hopefully welcoming you to my blog which is a world apart from yours but I hope you will enjoy it. Glad I found you on my second day here. Holly.x

I totally agree that there needs to be very strict control on guns, however, I am hesitant about suggesting a ban.  My concern is twofold.  First fold: The people who are causing harm with guns are rarely if ever, going through legal means to obtain them.  So the ban on  guns doesn't really apply to them.  Especially when Maryland and VA are 5 minutes away and neither of these places have such bans.  Second fold: I'm a firm believer in upholding the constitution and the bill of rights.  If the Supreme Court said it was OK for DC to take away this right, other cities might take  away other rights, such as free speech or voting by blacks and women using this decision as precedent.  No I don't want to see guns on our streets but I'd also like to vote in the next election and be free to speak my mind.  Sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad.
