Re: I have a friend
You have a friend there from Halifax? Well, say hello to her from an honorary Haligonian, and tell her they finally fixed that pothole at the bottom of Barrington...

Re: Re: Re: Re:
I didn't read the truck vs blogger series...(where was i?) I need to check on that...sorry for your buggered up hand...so sorry Naut.  I'm certain that your love for sailing is suffering right now.  I love to sail, however, I 'ride' on the sail or while the sailor sails ~ oh I have moved that sail before - and also learned to duck at times ~  ~ thank you for answering Naut~ Elyse

You have my mouth watering. This sounds exciting! I so enjoy exchanging mutual admiration with you. Your comment on my poem to lost love was so endearing. To write something that is more that its foundation is humbly experience. As a writer, HOT DAMN!!!!!  sam

Re: Re: Re:
Elyse, if you travelled with kids from 2 to 18, I'm surprised you got to see anything! And no, I'm not living on a boat, though I wouldn't mind. The problem is that I can't afford the kind of boat that's large enough to accommodate me, my LSW and all my stuff! I'm Nautikos because I like to sail, and have done so for quite a while, although not currently, because of my buggered up hand, which I wrote about in my Truck vs, Blogger series...

Re: I have always wanted to visit Nova Scotia...
Thanks, Chuck! I can't get rid of the guy, but I'm trying to get rid of the guy's fat! Takes a lot of work! And you should definitely give that part of the world a try! Just follow the instructions I gave to Troosh, and you can't get wrong...

Re:
Thanks sam, also for the haiku. I can't keep up with you, lol...The Sault is nice, but you really ought to try the Maritimes. For N.S., just follow the instructions I gave to Troosha...

Re: Naut

Troosh, if you have time to explore N.S. for ten days, you can see a lot! The following is mandatory: 1) A Halifax pub crawl! Leave the car at the hotel, you can do it walking or by cab. In the end you'll probably crawl, lol. There are great pubs, many with live music, close to the waterfront, but all over, up around Argyle as well. 2) Next day, a walk all along the waterfront and up to the Citadel, where Naut experienced his first runner's high as he reached the top, running! A drive along the South shore, Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay, and definitely Lunenburg. 3) The Annapolis Valley. 4) A whale watching tour, probably best out of some place on the Digby Neck. 5) A trip east, up to Cape Breton. As you are driving by Antigonish on the Trans Canada, you'll see St. Francis Xavier University. Wave at it. Continue on, across the strait of Canso, and up around the Cabot Trail. Clockwise is best. 6) The Fortress of Louisburg.

So much for the compulsory part. The rest of the time you are free and can enjoy yourself...

Re: Re:
Now Naut, you're asking me a difficult question...Yes, we did fly into PEI ~ had 6 children with us...we all toured Canada a few times --- from one end to the other.  Skiing and  ~ shopping---touring...and I just remember, my husband told me we'd get over to Nova Scotia ~ and well, I have to remind him, we never did . So, now I'm wondering if in fact, we did see Nova Scotia and I was just oblivious due to all the confusion of children ranging from 2yrs to 18 yrs and what all goes on with that  I will get back to you on this one okay?  (love me for who I am Naut) ~  --- and of course those are deck shoes...after looking again, I noticed they were not 'berkies' ~  ~ I just have a simple question Naut...do you live on a boat?  (not being facetious --- just putting Naut ---> Nautical --- you know?) ~ Will be back to see more ~ Elyse

I have always wanted to visit Nova Scotia...
...and will some day, along with the rest of the Maritime Provinces of Canada.
Thanks, Jack, for the added incentive from the excellent pictures.
And tell that fat guy to get lost....will ya! LOL
You're not fat! Take care.

Wow Naut, this is a writer's paradise! The view and buildings are stunning. My love for Canada is centered outside Sault Ste. Marie, Canada. In college I had a roommate from Sault Ste. Marie, Mi. We would go her parents house on vacations to watch junior B hockey. I loved those cold barns and live hockey along the Canadian highways. We couldn't get enough. Now I live in the Northwest US and Vancouver is where it's at. Like Halifax, I love Sault Ste Marie, Canada. I am a Canadian hockey fan when my Wings are out of. Some things just get in your blood for good reason!  sam

I have another haiku:

Oh Big Brown's, trainer,

jockeying for position;

finish with the truth.

Naut
Given I hope/intend on going to the Maritimes in July, I enjoyed seeing these photos of Halifax.  I hope we don’t have to cancel our trip (we’re in the process of moving and it may not be possible).  As it stands, however, we’ll stop in MTL for 4 days, fly to Halifax and rent a car for 10 days and just explore.

Re: Naut ... I've been to Nova Scotia a couple of times and it IS
Thanks, Vicki! Feb. is not my favourite time of year in Halifax either, or anywhere, for that matter! And yes, I've been to Peggy's Cove - in fact, I don't think there's a place in N.S. that I haven't been to at some time or other! And I'll even have a couple of pictures of Peggy's Cove...

Re:

Elyse, how did you get to Prince Edward Island, if not from Nova Scotia? Did you fly? And thanks for the new expression - 'berkies'! In these parts we call them 'deck shoes' (you wear them on the boat because of their grippy, non-marking soles), but I wear them a lot because they're light and comfortable...

And no, I wasn't born in N.S., but I lived there for years and got to love it...

Naut ... I've been to Nova Scotia a couple of times and it IS
gorgeous.  Of course the first time was in February and my tongue froze to the roof of my mouth, lol.  I don't believe I've ever been so cold.  Have you been to Victoria Park or Peggy's Cove?  Awesome sights.  I loved Halifax too ... especially the casinos :)  Great pictures!

Nautikos, I love this kind of stuff.  I will be reading all you write here, and looking at all the photos.  I dig "fat" guys.  LOL

Naut, I lived in Maine for about 7 years...we got as far as the Bay of Fundy --- Prince Edward and never was able to get over to Nova Scotia.  I so wanted to.  The beauty is stunning ~ ah!!! Thank you for sharing all this and who's that guy with the 'hat' on?  wearing berkies?   ~ Excuse me for being a bit 'duh' but, were you born in Nova Scotia?  (I must have missed something along the way) ~ Simply gorgeous and breathtaking!!! More please ---?? love pics ~ Elyse
